Those people usually don't get that every time they accomplish almost anything, it gets them a "checkpoint." Every time you get a race mask, every time you get a new item, and every time you get an owl statue almost always means that you're going to be able to skip a big chunk of stuff if you need to reset. You basically get a halfway point in every dungeon because the dungeon item will let you reset and ignore most of the rooms
